The 21st Annual
National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive For Local Food Shelves on May 11, 2013 was a huge success!

In the Green Mountain United Way service area of Caledonia, Essex, Orange, Orleans and Washington counties, an amazing 23,000 pounds of food were collected and distributed to 19 food shelves in those counties, compared to 19,350 pounds last year.

Across the nation, one in seven adults and nearly one quarter of all children are hungry and are not receiving the basic nutrition they need.

A big thank you goes out to all the community and letter carriers who helped Stamp Out Hunger by donating and delivering food helping to make this one-day drive a big success once again.

Vermont Works for Women’s Transitional Jobs Program

The next session of Vermont Works for Women’s Transitional Jobs Program is slated to begin on June 4th, and I am currently taking referrals.  TJ is for women who are currently receiving state assistance, women returning to their communities following incarceration, or women with disabilities who are looking for a supportive, structured program to act as a bridge to long-term employment. The program will be held at the Vermont Works for Women office in downtown Barre.

Program participants gain work experience, a current job reference, and employability skills to help them transition into unsubsidized, full-time employment, as well as the communication and personal skills necessary to maintain employment and build a better future for themselves and their families.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have questions or if you have a referral in mind.

Thank you,

Sarah Loveless
