Our Annual Campaign Kickoff Breakfast is NOW a BREAKFAST HAPPY HOUR! And we want to spend some time, getting to know you, and letting you get to know us.
Green Mountain United Way’s Director of Development and Community Engagement and award-winning author Michelle Kennedy will speak about her own journey through homelessness during our annual campaign kickoff celebration.
Please join us on October 6, 2022 at the Barre Opera House in Barre, Vermont in celebration of coming together, sharing our stories, and the many good works and partnerships that have collectively supported the Central Vermont and NEK community through the most challenging of times. We will be giving our traditional annual awards in special acknowledgment to a number of individuals and organizations that have really gone the extra mile to care for others and each other.
Local author Michelle Kennedy will read from her bestselling book, “Without a Net: Middle Class and Homeless (With Kids) in America,” and speak about taking the shame out of poverty, while trying to not only shift policy, but change attitudes around how we as a society consider those under – and over – the poverty level.
Her strategies for surviving and thriving in economic crisis have been printed in many publications, including The New York Times, Salon.com, and the Christian Science Monitor. She also contributes to NPR.
Come gather with us and share in our community story on October 6, 2022 on the BREAKFAST-themed food, fun, silent auction, live music, book signing and more!
